Arts +
Come and join us on Wednesday 24 July for our first member led workshop on Paper Conservation and Bookbinding
In our membership survey you told us you would like to have the opportunity to join in more local events in a relaxed informal setting.
In response we are launching a new initiative called Arts + and Annie Elliott has volunteered her expertise to launch the programme.
Annie is a long standing member of NADFAS and The Arts Society and has been a member of the North Wiltshire Society since 2022.
Annie started her working life in stage management and had a wonderful time working for the Royal Shakespeare Company, the Chichester Theatre, Birmingham Rep and the BBC.
Annie then embarked on a second career as a bookbinder and paper conservator. In 2004 she studied for an MA at the Camberwell School of Art and now runs a professional conservation business from her studio in Rode.
Her clients have included The Garrick Club, The National Trust, The Royal College of Physicians and many private clients.
In this workshop Annie will:
Show you some of the skills involved in restoring and preserving those “tatty bits of paper” which mean so much to you
Demonstrate better ways to protect your precious books
Show you some of her work in restoring 19th Century theatre notices for the Garrick Club
Not quite The Repair Shop but bring along your own memorabilia and Annie will demonstrate how you too can take some vital steps to restoring a treasured item.
To Book .
The workshop will be held at the Kings Arms in Melksham and will run from 10am to 1 pm on Wednesday 24 July.
Places will be limited to 20 and allocated on a first come basis. To apply simply click on the link below. The cost for the workshop including tea and coffee will be just £5
