Compton Verney. An outstanding art gallery and so much more

The six permanent collections at Compton Verney include Neapolitan art from 1600 to 1800, Northern European art of 1450 to 1650, British portraits including paintings of Henry VIII, Edward VI and Elizabeth I, Chinese bronzes and pottery including objects from ancient Neolithic and Shang periods, British folk art, and the Enid Marx-Margaret Lambert collection of folk art from around the world which inspired the textile designs of Enid Marx (1902-1998). In addition there are usually two temporary exhibitions.

All of this and the wonderful landscape park designed by Capability Brown will be open for our group on the day of our visit.
