Chippenham Museum

Heritage Volunteers have now concluded their work on a project at Chippenham Museum.  After a preparation training session with Museum staff in October 2017, volunteers reviewed the contents of the textile store, checking packing, condition and noting any problem areas.  A training workshop was given on correct packing and storage methods, relining boxes, making tissue paper cushions and pillows to protect the objects to museum approval standards.

The project has now come to an end having checked 895 textile items and repacked 147 boxes.  They have now been left in a better and safer condition than before and more room has been made for future expansion.  Ebery box opened has been a surprise and a delight and items have been found from the beautiful to the practical that reflected the life of the community.
